VBS 2010: Saddle Ridge Ranch
Yee Haw! Just a random reminder about VBS 2010. I am excited about it and got the chance a few days ago to listen to some of the music. This is definately one of the better VBS themes!

What Happened Wednesday? (Mar. 17, 2010)
On Wednesday we were combined in the Chapel since Scott was sick. Stephen was also kind of sick, but not contagious. He couldn't really talk well so instead of him teaching he showed a Rob Bell video. It was quite fun and before it started Rebecca was talking with Ross, Deaton and I and she was talking about how she wanted one of her friends to run for President in a few years and I said he could just run for mayor now and assume that means the whole U.S. wants him to be president, kind of like what the Democrats are doing on Congress on the health care bill. Bye!

What Happened @ DNow '10?
I will tell you. If you weren't there you missed a lot you missed the friend of horses(our leaders name in greek), hearing the only verse in the bible where it mentions bear, taking pictures of random strangers(the scavenger hunt) and getting almost run over by cars(*cough* Harris *cough*), seeing a couple make-out at a red light(when we passed them we made kissy faces!), a glee-off(of which the tenth graders should have won), and to conclude the wonderful weekend the whole six grade class got stuck in an elevator(they said,"one, two, three, jump" and the elevator stopped.)
The friend of horses was the name of our leader. That is all he told us, so we using our 21-century technology Cha-Cha-ed it and found out his name is Philip!
The verse in the bible where it mentions bears is 2 Kings 2: 23-25: "23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria." That has nothing to do with our theme, but it is the only verse in the bible that has bears in it!
During the scavenger hunt which included going to a bunch of random restaurants and stores and taking pictures of people playing Bears, Beats, BSG (a game like rock, paper, scisors)Harris ran out in front of a Ford F-150 and almost got run over. Fortunately he didn't die.
Then on the way back to the church after the scavenger hunt, we were at a red light when this couple in front of us started making-out. We went full speed(in the church van is 50 mph) and were able to catch up with them and made kissy faces at them, the girl cracked up and the guy got quite mad.
On Saturday night we had the glee-off. We did a version of "Threw it on the Ground" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEDauams7Es) It was kind of funny, but the tenth graders skit was much more funny.
Sunday we are at church and we are going to the chapel for the closing of DNow when the whole sixth grade class gets in the elevator and never get out - until about thirty minutes later. They really should have listened to the lesson in the chapel DNow closing. It was about how the titanic wasn't supposed to be able to sink yet it did. They had many warnings about icebergs, but ignored them. If the sixth-graders had heard that they may not have gotten all of them on the elevator.
That was just a little glance at what happened on DNow! If you didn't come, come next year!

What Happened Wednesday? (Mar. 3, 2010)
Last night we were in the youth suite and not combined. Apparently a bunch of High Schoolers complained about how Wednesday nights now are boring because there are stupid videos and the middle schoolers are so annoying. Because of that we have switched back to our old style of Wednesday nights. There was no videos or any of the new stuff Stephen started doing since his first Wednesday night. Personally I prefered Stephen's style of Wednesday Nights and wish they would continue the videos, but I am sad to say they will not be continueing the video series. So long. See you all at D'now!

Consignment Sale Update - March 1st
298 Workers are now signed up to work shifts! Here is an email sent from my mother to all youth and parents:
As of Friday, you can now register to work up to 4 shifts per person. Please visit www.fhbc.org/students/, click on the Mission Trip 2010 flash picture and sign up for more shifts! With the construction going on this year, we have more needs for people during the sale. The consignors and shoppers will be coming in the back of the building and it will create some jobs that we haven't needed before.
The following shifts are the ones where we have the fewest workers registered. So, if you can help at one of these times, please do! :)
Tuesday, 3/23 8:44am until 12:30pm
Wednesday, 3/24 8:44am until 12pm or 9:59am until 2pm
Thursday, 3/25 8:59am-12:30pm, 12:30pm-3:30pm and 4:30pm-8pm
